Yuzhen Lu


Yuzhen Lu earned a Ph.D. degree in Biosystems Engineering at Michigan State University. Before the present appointment in the DAISy lab at NC State, Dr. Lu worked for USDA-ARS on nondestructive postharvest sensing and quality evaluation of horticultural production, and apple harvest-assist and in-field sorting technology development. Currently his research is multi-faceted, involving hyperspectral imaging technology for high-throughput plant phenotyping, public database creation and algorithm development for robotic weeding, and ground/drone based spectral imaging for precision agriculture applications. Dr. Lu has a philosophical vision of multi-disciplinary systems approaches in agricultural sciences and engineering, and embraces collaborating with professionals of diverse disciplines.
